As one of the newest chapters in CSTA, the California Far North Chapter serves teachers in Northern California counties, including Del Norte, Humbolt, Mendocino, Sonoma, Lake, Siskiyou, Modoc, Trinity, Shasta, Lassen, Tehema, Plumas, Glenn, and Butte. These counties are included in "Region 1" and "Region 2" of the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association: https://ccsesa.org/regions/. The chapter was charted to serve teachers participating in the CS4NorCal research project and has expanded to serve educators in other Far About CS4NorCal.
 

What does a CSTA California Far North Chapter Leader do?  The role is defined in four categories:

  3. Build Community
  4. Develop as a Leader

Expectations

  • Fulfill a Chapter Board of Directors role, as defined by CSTA

  • Facilitate monthly community of practice meetings

  • Participate in monthly Chapter Leader planning meetings to design the community of practice meetings

  • Contribute up to six hours of asynchronous work bimonthly to design the community of practice meeting and communicate with chapter members

  • Participate in ad-hoc leadership development opportunities provided by CSTA (on average, 2 hours bi-monthly)
